The MIAE examination facility has been designed to allow users of MIAE to test knowledge acquired through the use of the title.

As such there is no time limit, neither is it possible to 'fail' the examination.

The objective of the examination is to allow users to build confidence in their application of knowledge and to help identify any learning gaps.

The examination consists of a series of video cases that have associated Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). MCQs may have one or more correct response.

On answering a question information on all possible responses is revealed. This information will detail why a particular answer is correct, as well as why certain responses would have been an incorrect choice. An overall score will be displayed at the end.

The examination can be used in two modes - linear and random.

Linear mode allows a user to go through all questions held in the examination database. The sequence of questions will always be presented in the same order. This mode is useful for learning in concert with the DVD, allowing a user to cross reference with the associated section.

In random mode a unique examination is generated from the whole pool of questions available. The user has the option of selecting the number of questions they would like to attempt. This mode is tailored more for assessing learnt knowledge, rather than aiding in learning, and so is of more benefit to those users who have spent some time with the MIAE DVD already.

However, new users may find it a worthwhile experience to attempt a random examination prior to using the MIAE DVD in order to establish a benchmark from which to demonstrate their learning progress.

One important feature of this examination is the ability to register as a user. Although it is possible to use the examination in both modes without registration, it will not be possible to record progress.

By registering a user will be able to leave and return to an examination at any point, view previous examination results as well as access graphs displaying overall examination performance and individual question hit rates.

All registration details are kept in the strictest confidence and will not be used for any purpose other than providing the user with a personalised examination environment. Please read our privacy statement here.

Registration with the examination system is highly recommended.
