A two part online educational resource initiated by the Department of Health focusing on the reclassification of Chronic Kidney disease. Authored by the CKD Forum and the British Renal Society this website provides the latest information for doctors in primary care.

The key to good management of CKD in primary care is to develop understanding of the principles behind the guidelines. This resource provides authoritative and up-to-date education, tailored to the needs of the primary care MDT.

With chapters ranging from anatomy & physiology through medicines management and issues for the future, this websites presents the very latest updates from key opinion leaders across the UK. The site is free to all users, with three levels of CPD accreditation available for a small fee.

Converting a national clinical guideline into an online reference resource.

Acute breathing difficulty is a common presenting problem particularly in young children. With a paper based guideline for diagnosis and management already available, there was a strong desire to develop an online interactive version, one that could also deliver supporting reference material and clinical examples.

Development was funded by the University of Leicester Medical Education Department, the NHS East Midlands Healthcare Workforce Deanery and the Leicester Community Child Health Services.

By using this website the aim is that clinicians will be able to learn more about how to examine, diagnose and manage children who may present with breathing difficulties. This is achieved by providing access to relevant literature and clinical guidelines and with video clips of children presenting with symptoms such as wheeze or cough to aid the decision making process. A self assessment package is included to support professional development.

OCB Media and the University of Warwick were commissioned by the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to prepare training resources to support the introduction and embedding of the Child Death Review Processes (CDRP) which are set out in Chapter 7 of Working Together to Safeguard Children (HM Government 2006).

The OCB Media team was extremely professional and grasped the nature and requirements of the project quickly. All material provided to OCB Media was formatted rapidly and to a high quality and returned promptly for checking. The team was able to make helpful suggestions on the layout of the materials.

The overall aim of the training resources was to enable key professionals and, where appropriate, their managers to understand and implement the new CDR processes, including requirements to review all child deaths in their local authority area and to have in place processes to respond to, enquire into and evaluate each unexpected death.

Three classroom courses with extensive support materials, a website and a CD-ROM were developed on time and on budget.

This high quality DVD-ROM is a worthwhile investment for any clinician or department concerned with the management of minor injuries, both from a personal development perspective and as a teaching resource.

A project of vast scope, Minor Injuries in A&E contains over 4 hours of clinical video materials and includes an online, video based case assessment tool for CME. The DVD-ROM has been used across the UK to enhance the skills of all Emergency Department staff. The title covers history taking, examination, radiology, treatment and advice for each condition in both adults and children. General sections are provided to cover communication in the ED environment, documentation and the special needs of certain patient groups.

Paediatric Respiratory Examination, developed by leading specialists in child health, uses a unique series of filmed clinical cases and illustrated presentations to demonstrate the differential diagnosis and clinical presentation of common conditions, including asthma, pneumonia, bronchiolitis and bronchiectasis.

Users can listen to bronchial breathing of a young girl with a right lower lobe pneumonia, watch the static cilia on a strip of airway epithelium from a child with primary ciliary dyskinesia, see the effects of oral steroids and beta-2-agonists on a young child with acute asthma exacerbation and look down a bronchoscope at a tiny silver star lodged in an infant's epiglottis.

This e-learning tool for clinicians arose from the national study, Healthcare delivery and the outcome of meningococcal disease in children, which was conducted through the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and Imperial College London, and funded by Meningitis Research Foundation.

The aims of this learning tool are:

3. To outline the basic management of meningococcal septicaemia and meningitis in line with the protocol 'Early management of meningococcal disease in children'
4. To describe the clinical pathophysiology of meningococcal disease.

This has been and continues to a fantastic learning resource for hundreds of our students, alumni and other HCPs. The animations bring to life complex pharmacological concepts and the video clips of inhaler techniques serve as a useful resource for patients. The team at OCB Media have been great to work with in partnership. We bring the clinical knowledge and the educational content and they do what they are good at doing in a professional but also fun way!

This educational CD-ROM has been designed to make respiratory pharmacology, drug action, inhaled therapy and the delivery methods simple. Using animated video clips and auto-scripted lectures this multimedia resource brings to life areas of respiratory physiology and medicines management that have traditionally been difficult to get to grips with.

A Catheter Insertion DVD-ROM and Peritoneal Dialysis website supported by Baxter Healthcare.

A combined website and surgical DVD-ROM covering all aspects of the care of a PD patient from the physiology and mechanics of PD, through to initiating the therapy and continuing management of the patient. The learner can expect to understand more about how to maximise the quality of dialysis that the patient receives; minimise the risk of problems and effectively resolve issues if they do arise.
