The mini clinical evaluation exercise, the mini-CEX, is one of the methods which the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) has indicated will be used to assess the competence of trainee doctors in the foundation programme. Medical graduates in the UK entered foundation programmes from August 2005. The aim of this training package is to help foundationers become confident and competent to undertake assessments using the mini-CEX.

The CD-ROM contains :

• an overview of the development and use of the mini-CEX
• an audio-visual presentation explaining the background and validation of the mini-CEX and its purpose and practical use in the assessment processes of the foundation programme
• a graphic animation of the mini-CEX recording form.
• an interactive mini-CEX encounter. The exercise allows you to assess the trainee yourself, complete the mini-CEX form and compare your assessment with that of others
• a frequently asked questions section

As so much is in evolution within the developments of Modernising Medical Careers, the CD-ROM will automatically search for updates to this training package via the internet.
